About Saint Alouarn Investments
Saint Alouarn Investments is a dedicated holding company set up by three private investors to form a 50%/50% joint venture with an Australian hospitality group. The joint venture business is for the launch of the internationally renowned French bakery franchise Gontran Cherrier in Australia.
The Deal
The joint venture was set up under the legal form of a partnership whose management was entrusted to a dedicated management company. The founder of Saint Alouarn Investment negotiated a licensed agreement with Gontran Cherrier Holding in Paris and contributed the license to the joint venture in exchange of free carry for Saint Alouarn Investment in the partnership. The Australian hospitality group contributed its expertise and know-how in hospitality, corporate support functions for the management of the partnership as well as an initial debt facility to finance the necessary launch expenditures and the initial working capital. Gontran Cherrier Australia opened its first bakery café and its production facility in June 2016.
